I started out doing door-to-door sales initially then moved on to a welfare-to-work environment. Over time, I began eager to return to a sales-driven commission focused environment, but I wasn’t keen on going back to knocking on doors. Agency recruitment captures all of the elements I have loved from my previous roles; uncapped commission, fast pace, ongoing training and progression opportunities.
Some people don’t stay in recruitment for the long-term however, the people that stay in it can do very well out of it. For example, at Archer, we have 12 career levels from the entry-level delivery executive, right up to partner level. If you are in the right recruitment consultancy which is growing then you will grow too. I’ve learned loads about business, marketing, people and sales.
The balance between autonomy and support. You are completely in control of your own success. You manage your own time and get to run your desk like your own business while also having invaluable support and ongoing training.
Do some research and have a think about whether you enjoy sales, if you are organised and self-motivated.
It took me a while to make my first placement, then they all started coming at once! My account balance when I received my commission is something I’ll never forget!
